Surf Dudes is all about an older generation of surfer, its true there are not many pro surfers who started late if any, but that does not mean you cannot cruise the waves and do tricks age is not restriction to surfing as long as you stay fit, stretch and most important have fun!
Taking up surfing in your 40s, 50s or even 60+ is not unrealistic at all, I took up surfing at 45 and have had various set backs as I learnt and injuries not I follow a strict set of exercises which do not rule my life in fact add to it with the advantage of being even fitter doing something I love.
Learning how to surf was just pure fun at first and then led to frustration then triumph and then back and forwards between all three, it amazed me how you yoyo initially! But Taking up Surfing at 40+ is easily achievable and your be ripping in no time.
So are you thinking of taking up surfing at 40+ then just do it! this site is aimed at creating a community of us young at heart wannabee surfers, I have been surfing now for 6 years and would say I am a solid Intermediate I am also an online teacher and educator with that in mind and all the hurdles I faced I felt it would be a great idea to set up an online membership to engage an older generation of surfer into the sport of surfing and more importantly catching and performing on a unbroken or green wave.

So what else does the membership include? well the goal is to have holidays and group visits to Cornwall, where as a group we can build new friendships and learn together passing knowledge to each other and having a brilliant fun time in and out of the water (apres Surfing!). We also want to get deals with surf shops exclusively for members of the site and provide training that you can do at home, yes you do not even need to surf to get your fitness level up or practice your pop up and balance, these exercises for older surfers will get you on the road to surfing safely, during the membership sections will be added starting with the basics, intermediate and advanced, plus fitness programmes as downloads and video content, we also want to do some Pro Interviews exclusively for this site!

Surf Dudes is based in St Ives Cornwall, 40 minutes from Newquay and the famous Fistral Beach, but St Ives have some of the best Surf spots around Cornwall Gwithian 4 miles of golden beach never gets too busy and allows Beginners to hone there skills without the fear of crashing into another newbie in the white water. St Ives local beach Porthmeor is a sharp short break and you will have to be on your top game to quickly get up grab the wave and ride it Wave height around Cornwall can be from Nothing to 14 ft so choosing the right conditions to go out based on your skill is also a big factor.
Water Safety and safety in general with surfing is a major factor specially in Winter where the power of the wave can quadruple, trust me I have almost drowned a few times by stupidly going out in conditions I was not ready for, or fit enough for!
