What is surf dudes?

Surf-dudes is for older surfers. Learning to surf in your 40s and beyond is very achievable we aim to enable this and help beginners, intermediates and with the help of the more advanced surfers progress you to that next level, as a community we will join forces to overcome any obstacles that are stopping you from progressing we will form friendships and also have Surfing chat rooms plus live events.

Where did the idea come from?

I have been surfing for 6 years and feel I am still able to remember my hurdles after watching like hundreds of videos and reading a ton of books, taking private sessions and courses. I still felt on my own in some of the struggles I had progressing. I am lucky to live right by a surf beach so have the benefit of asking instructors and seasoned surfers but at the end of the day they are too experienced to get what I meant.

I faced lots of struggles progressing and that led me to think about a site where we can meet surfers and talk about our own issues, surfing related of course.

Is it ever too late to learn how to surf?

I personally took up surfing later in life at 45 so I feel anything is possible, surfing as early as possible is obviously best but if you take it steady and follow our best practices there is no reason you could not start at 60+

Is it ever too late to learn how to surf?

Learning surfing later in life can be easy if you take the right approach, I started surfing at the age of 45 and after 6 years feel I am in a position to give guidance on how to avoid injury and progress through some of the hurdles I encountered along the way.

Learning how to surf in your 40s obviously is not going to be as easy as if you are in your 20s, we must take precautions to protect our sleves from injury and work harder to get our muscles developing. But in our favour we do have experience on how to access problems and admit to our selves possible dangers, commonly younger people charge head first into danger.

We also have endurance and the will power to push through these are great assets to have, generally our communication is better and we are more willing to ask more experienced surfers for help, these are great advantages and we must make full use of them.

Surf Dudes focuses on key problems that you may encounter in your progression to surfing, we also talk about fitness excercises and stretching which is vital for keeping injury free. With our community we can engage in surf chat and find solutions to problems as a group we can anlyze problems and find the root cause.
