Paths to Surfing the Wave

Welcome to another post by Surf-Dudes, in this article we will look at the different levels of surfers and what they are doing on the wave, read on...

As you progress your surfing skills you will find that you are starting to make fuller use of the wave, this is a natural progression but that should not mean you should not dare to dream, try tight cut backs or even ariels,

failure will lead to success, push always when you surf and self-critique what could I do better. Watch the more experienced surfers you can gain a lot of knowledge from them and do not be afraid to ask.

Let's look at the natural surfing progression this is a brought translation, please note as a beginner your probably not be going out in such big waves as the illustration!

Beginner Level Surfers (White Line)

White water is the first place you start you learn how to handle your equipment and get up on the board this is done in the white water. You can practice putting pressure on the rails and applying pressure to both the front foot and back foot, this safe environment will prepare you for your next step in surfing.

Beginner Level Surfers (Green Line)

Once you have the basics mastered you will make your way out the back past the breaking waves, it's a good idea to catch waves just off the peak especially on bigger days.
You will be surfing straight at the beach and gaining confidence popping up.

Intemediate Level Surfers (Blue Line)

Now the fun really begins as you pop up look down the line, take off from the peak and choose the direction you want to go based on the shape of the waves.

As you progress you want to aim to go down the wave face and up again to generate speed.

Advanced Level Surfers

Advanced surfers use the maximum potential of the wave they use compression and the waves power to gain speed and energy these surfers are pro-active in the water and use the wave to the max.

Alright, guys, so hopefully I'll see you on the site is www.surf-dudes.com
